Short Description

Commissioned in 1898 the lighthouse was built to warn ships away from dangerous offshore reefs at the mouth of the Great Fish River near Port Alfred.

Visitors: October - April, 10h00 - 15h00, Monday - Sunday. Otherwise, Monday - Friday.

Additional Info

The lighthouse is active with a focal plane of 85 m (279 ft) and a 9 m (30 ft) octagonal cylindrical concrete tower with lantern and gallery. The faces of the tower are painted alternately black and white with a white lantern and red dome. Overnight accommodation is available for visitors, with guided tours on arrangement.
